Armistead Maupin’s SF (gay) drama “Tales of the City” is back! – WehoLife

Everyone’s favorite disco gay soap is making a comeback!

Variety reports that Netflix is developing a reboot of the classic gay themed SF drama, Tales of The City. Laura Linney and Olympia Dukakis are signed on to star (again) in the latest installment of Maupin’s classic. What’s new this time? Well, instead of being set in the gay ole 1970’s San Francisco, the new series will be set today as Mary Anne Singleton (Linney) returns to the City and Barbary Lane 25 years after she last left (Twin Peaks set a trend?).

Written this time by the talented Michael Cunningham (The Hours), and directed by Alan Poul, the return series is rumored to be a “10 part installment”. Netflix has declined comment. Sneaky, sneaky Netflix.
